Fault Finding

The following are some of the key areas we suggest you check which generally solve the most common problems encountered with the operation of the Status antenna.

Coaxial Connections

It is critical that all connections in the system are fitted correctly and only quality plugs have been used.

Coaxial Cable

Sharp bends, kinks and hot surfaces can easily damage coaxial cable and should be avoided. An inspection of the cable routing is recommended to ensure all is correct. Coaxial cable, if placed in close proximity to electrical cables, transformers or other pieces of electrical equipment, may pick up electrical interference causing picture quality to deteriorate, especially in poor reception areas. Excess cable should be removed and NOT coiled as this may cause picture distortion. An inspection of the routing of the cable is highly recommended to ensure all is correct.

Pinnacle

The pinnacle is essential for the optimum performance of the antenna and therefore should be in place when the antenna is in use.

Gain Control

In normal use the button should be rotated clockwise for maximum gain. In strong signal areas the amplification can be reduced by rotating the button anti-clockwise until picture quality improves. The button rotates through 270 degrees from MAX to MIN.

LED Light

Should the LED on the Power Amplifier not light, firstly check there is power to the unit. Secondly check the polarity is correct. Otherwise contact ourselves for further assistance.

Short Hook Up - Test 1

This test isolates the wiring from the Amplifier through to your TV/Radio points. Unplug the coaxial plugs from the ‘TV’ sockets of the Amplifier and using your TV fly lead with Convertor 1 supplied. Connect your TV to the Amplifier.

Please ensure the Antenna Dome is plugged directly into the ‘ANT-IN’ socket of the Amplifier and switch on. Tune in your TV for the strongest signal.

If the picture quality improves the fault lies with the wiring of the system between the Amplifier and the TV outlet socket.

Short Hook Up - Test 2

This test isolates the Amplifier by connecting your TV direct to the Antenna.

Unplug the Antenna from the Amplifier and connect Convertor 2 supplied to the plug on the cable end. Using your TV Fly lead connect the antenna directly to your TV. Tune in your TV for the strongest signal.

If the picture quality improves, the fault lies with the Vision Plus Amplifier.

Antenna Dome Coaxial Cable

Check the routing of the coaxial cable from the Antenna Dome to the Amplifier. Check to ensure there are no kinks or trapped cable or if there are loops of surplus cable which could be affecting performance.

When the Antenna Dome was originally fitted and lowered onto the Mounting Foot, cable may have been trapped or kinked under the Mounting Foot. To check remove the Antenna Dome as described over the page to see if this has occurred.

Disconnected and reconnected, all of the connections including the coax from the wall socket to the - retuned and all is well

Embarrassingly it may have been the short lead from the socket to the tv !

So .. was testing the van Tv 3 days ago and found the remote wasn’t working. I changed the batts and it still didn’t work and thought it might be the tv . Googled the website for VisionPlus and rang them .. amazingly the call was answered in seconds and got to speak an actual human called Mark who was really helpful. He talked me through a couple of tests to find if the problem was the tv remote receiver or the hand set . He said
If you hold the camera of your phone to view the remote sender you’ll see it flashing if it’s working .. you can’t see it with the naked eye ! Anyway it wasn’t flashing. He then said he’s just missed the post but will send out a new remote free of charge… wow ! The tv is 2 years old , it arrived a day later 1st class Royal Mail .. didn’t think 1st class actually existed any more ! In the mean time looking at the remote closer the batts had been left in and two of the contact springs were only slightly corroded. So sanded them cleaner and did the phone camera test .. it worked!
Amazing customer service from Vision Plus . And the moral is don’t leave batteries in remotes over winter especially in your motor mover hand set.

In this selfish, greedy, money grabbing world, I had little faith in my chance of success when I called to enquire about replacing a gasket in part of my motor home aerial assembly. I'd already had no luck with a couple of suppliers, so thought I'd try Vision Plus.

My call was answered with a friendly greeting, a sympathetic ear, and a proffered solution from a very well informed member of staff. I couldn't have been more pleased. Then to add a further plus to an already 5 star customer service, this person went above and beyond to find me the correct gasket and promptly had it delivered free of charge! I tell you my faith in humanity has been restored. This company is a shining example of what good customer service should be.

Hello

I don’t know who will receive this email but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Harvey Morecroft for his assistance the other day.

I had an issue with my reversing camera and after explaining it to Harvey he took my number and went off to investigate how he could help.

On the same day he returned my call and said he could solve the issue and would forward the parts required.

The parts arrived today and I have managed to put my camera back to full use.
